High Point

This exceptional ten acre reserve is Buy Back Bermuda’s latest acquisition. A choice of trails takes you past arable fields or past a ruined farmhouse to the ‘high point’ of the reserve. From there you can enjoy spectacular views of the Great Sound or South West Breaker.

This fabulous 10 acre reserve offers a multitude of delights: a spectacular view out towards South West Breaker; a panoramic view of the Great Sound; a coastal path; and a ‘gothic’ ruin. You are certain to see Longtails from February to September and in the Spring you might be lucky enough to see Humpback whales offshore.

An impressive 28% of High Point is zoned coastal reserve with the largest aggregation of longtail nests on mainland Bermuda. The tidal caves along the coast are geologically unique and provide critical nesting habitat for barn owls.

In 2022 an exceptional $2 million individual gift and funds from BBB’s acquisition account, including a $300,000 gift from PartnerRe, enabled Buy Back Bermuda to acquire these ten pristine rural acres of arable fields, woodland and spectacular coastline, preventing it from being developed. Work to restore it as a public nature reserve began in 2023 with the planting of a Hackberry grove. The heavily wooded coast was cleared of casuarinas; trails were made through the forest and the ruined house cleared of invasive species. High Point Nature Reserve was opened to the public on Earth Day in 2025.
